Aug 2005 – The Chilkoot Trail Alaska

This was the trip that connected us to the original Arctic Brotherhood.  It was 7 years in the making but we didn’t get serious until a year before.  Why did we pick this fairly obscure trail as our first big adventure?  Don’s great-grandfather was a Yukon gold rush stampeeder and had conquered the Chilkoot himself on his way to Dawson and eventually Fairbanks.  After the fellas completed the 5 day hike and caught the train back to Skagway, they visited the original Arctic Brotherhood building and were inspired to resurrect the spirit of the defunct fraternal organization.
