Canadian records show that our Grand Poohbah’s great-grandfather, H.C. Davis, crossed the Chilkoot Pass on April 1, 1899. He went on to Dawson to start a construction business to support the miners/stampeders, then later moved onto to Fairbanks in 1906 and remained there. Don’s grandfather and mother were both born in Fairbanks. Someone in the family found a photo of him taken sometime before his gold rush adventure. Later photos of H.C. Davis show him sporting the same cool ‘stash through out his entire life.
