A recently uncovered newspaper obituary column about H. C. Davis (our leader Don Lake’s great-grandfather) reveals that he was a lifetime member of A-B Camp No. 4 in Dawson in the Yukon Territory. Our little modern club started with Don, Dave & Rick retracing the path (the Chilkoot Pass) that Don’s great-grandfather took on his way to the Yukon gold rush. At the end of their trek, they decided to adopt the name of the long-defunct “Arctic Brotherhood” because it was a very cool name and left behind a very cool preserved building in Skagway. But they had absolutely no idea that H.C. Davis was involved at all with the original A-B organization.
